The DISRAELIS Project pursues three main goals:
Personal contacts:
Personal contacts should serve to build up friendships between Israelis and people of other nations to create mutual trust and develop understanding and love amongst them.
Understanding Israel’s situation:
By hosting DISRAELIS, the foreign hosts can learn at first hand what life in Israel is really about. Thus every host family gets the opportunity to hear personal first hand reports about the sufferings as well as the joys of their DISRAELIS guests and to share these feelings together with them. Instead of listening to the often biased media reports these meetings can foster a deeper understanding and reevaluation amongst them.
Elimination of prejudices:
Distrust against many countries is still widespread in Israel. This is mainly because of the antisemitism which is rearing its ugly head again.
At the same time many prejudices also exist towards Israel. Through bringing Israelis and people from other nations together many of these intolerances can be eliminated and a common acceptance by all nations can be attained.
